Conference in Cracow
Colleagues:
This is to remind you of the details relating to the Conference in Cracow in July.
The 2nd International Conference: European Identity: Culture, Technology and Religion takes place in Cracow July 2 – 4th and I know that our Polish colleagues are working very hard to make sure that it will be a great success. We are learning as our project progresses, and so this time we are insistent that those traveling who are also receiving subvention should have a prepared paper, a summary of which has to be approved by the Programme Committee.
I assume that the Organising Committee has no difficulty if other LSI members wish to attend who are not giving papers provided accommodation is available and provided they book on time.
We originally set the deadline for summary papers (ca 3000 words) for May 14th. However, we have decided to amend the dates as follows:
§ Final Submission of papers: May 28th, 2007 (changed!!!) §
Final Notification to presenters: June 15th, 2007 (changed!!!)
§ Conference date: July 2-4, 2007
§ Revised papers submission: September 1st, 2007
Needless to say, the sooner you get your draft paper in the sooner you will know whether it has been accepted. We will start processing papers from next Tuesday.
PLEASE NOTE: · Registration should be completed before May 14th but certainly by May 28th at the latest.
· the organizing committee also needs to know regarding your hotel accommodation by May 28th at the very latest.
· You should also note that flight costs have recently increased and the sooner you book the better the deal.
· your trip plan should be forwarded to the Conference Management Office: sophiawa@ippt.gov.pl as soon as it is confirmed and they will advise you re local travel details.
Further details of the call for papers etc is at http://sophiawarsaw.ippt.gov.pl/call.html.
We agreed to subvent participation by LSI members who have an approved paper by up to €600. If we get too many applicants from one group we might have to review this but we will accommodate as many as we can. In budgeting, we were reckoning with ca three members from each LSI, but some may have more, others less (as the host LSI, this limit does not apply to the Warsaw group).
SophiaEuropa will pay the €360 conference fee for members with approved papers directly to the Organising Committee. The remaining €240 can be claimed back by members against receipts in the usual way.
Should you be seeking additional subvention from your home/host university/institution on the basis of attendance/presentation I will be happy to provide a letter stating that your paper has been accepted.
Registration is available at http://sophiawarsaw.ippt.gov.pl/registr.html.
Finally, would LSI leaders please check to ensure that all their members have been circulated? Many thanks Eamonn
